While the local landscape has changed significantly since the start of the pandemic, one thing remains the same: San Pablo kids got their backpacks.

The City of San Pablo and the Family Giving Tree teamed up once again to deliver 700 backpacks, as well as supplies donated by Travis Credit Union, to schools as students began their distance learning this year.

In August, San Pablo Community Services staff picked up the backpacks, which were fully stocked with a variety of supplies such as coloring books, piggy banks, pens and lip balm.

As distance learning kicked off, the backpacks were distributed to each San Pablo school, including Bayview, Dover, EM Downer, Helms, Lake and Riverside. As an added bonus, backpacks were also distributed to students at Richmond High School and San Pablo Youth Commission members.

“We are excited to celebrate ten years of partnership with Family Giving Tree and thankful to their agency for continuing to provide resources to San Pablo students during the pandemic,” the City of San Pablo said in a statement.
