San Pablo police officers recently arrested a convicted felon after a community member reported an alleged illegal firearm sale in progress.
The witness reportedly observed a man appearing to sell a weapon and immediately contacted dispatch, police said. The caller provided real-time updates on the suspect’s movements, which allowed law enforcement to arrive while the transaction was still active.
The suspect attempted to flee on foot as officers arrived on the scene. Police quickly caught and detained the man, who was later identified as a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. Following the arrest, the subject was transported to the county jail and charged accordingly.
“If you’re going to ‘sling’ something over your shoulder, make sure it’s your gym bag — not something that makes the neighbors call dispatch,” police said.
Police were unclear as to whether the firearm in question (and pictured) is an actual gun or a replica.
