After serving the city for five years, Hercules City Manager Dante Hall will step down from the post on March 23 to become the City Manager for the City of Monterey.

The Hercules City Council plans to meet soon to discuss hiring an interim leader and starting the search for a permanent replacement.

Hall is credited with helping secure $2.4 million for the Hercules Hub, a major project for new housing and transit, and leading the effort to pass the User Utility Tax Extension and to create the city’s first Parks Master Plan. He also worked to make the local government more tech-friendly and transparent, launching the Hercules Connect app for reporting local issues and starting the Hercules Herald digital newsletter to keep neighbors informed.

He also filled four key department head positions and modernized how the city manages its digital records.

Hall stated that serving Hercules has been a highlight of his career and expressed his gratitude to the staff and residents for their support.

“It has been my privilege to work with the dedicated people of Hercules and collaborate with individuals who care passionately about this community,” Hall said. “I am especially grateful to the City Council, staff and residents for their trust and support.”
