A routine traffic enforcement stop turned into a narcotics arrest after a Hercules police officer recently pulled over a burgundy 2011 Kia Sorento near the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp from John Muir Parkway for expired registration.

The 32-year-old female driver from Hercules was found to have a non-issued driver’s license but no outstanding warrants. Her passenger, a 48-year-old Richmond man, initially provided a false name but was discovered to have an active warrant from the San Mateo Police Department.

During a probable-cause search, according to police, officers found suspected methamphetamine on the male’s person and a bag in the vehicle’s trunk containing suspected cocaine, black-tar heroin, fentanyl, Xanax, Percocet and ecstasy.

The male suspect was arrested at the scene, and a licensed driver arrived to take possession of the vehicle.
