Laura Lozano, lead instructor of the Collision Repair program at Contra Costa College (CCC), was elected to a three-year term (beginning Aug. 27) on the I-CAR Board of Directors, representing the Education segment.
I-CAR, a national nonprofit for auto collision repair, sets training standards and supports industry–education partnerships. Lozano’s appointment strengthens CCC’s industry ties and amplifies its voice in shaping national technical curricula.
Lozano’s story echoes CCC’s mission: she began as a student in CCC’s collision repair program, later co-opened an auto body shop, and returned to lead the same program.
“We had a lot of shop time … it was really hands-on,” she said. “And that made all the difference.”
In addition to her role on CCC’s Automotive Services Advisory Committee, Lozano now brings educator perspectives to I-CAR at the national level, helping keep collision repair education relevant, practical and student-centered.
“Being elected to the I‑CAR Board feels like a culmination of everything this program stands for: hands-on learning, industry partnership, and supporting student success,” Lozano said. “I’m honored to bring Contra Costa College’s voice to such a vital table.”
