The West Contra Costa Unified School District will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Hercules Middle School & High School Science Building at 1900 Refugio Valley Road on Thursday, Feb. 6.

This event, set to run from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., will include speeches from current and former students and parents and appearances by local officials, according to the WCCUSD.

Students will also lead a tour of the new state-of-the-art science facility, described as consisting of “advanced learning spaces that will help foster scientific discovery and innovation for years to come.”

The project involved building eight permanent, high-quality science labs for both the middle and high schools. Support spaces include science teacher workrooms and student and staff restrooms, according to the project website.

The upgrade was identified in the WCCUSD facilities master plan as a critical needs project, according to the district.
