UPDATE: The San Pablo Planning Commission approved the major design review and conditional use permit for the project, so it will move forward.
A new building housing a restaurant and drive-through facility is being proposed for the corner of San Pablo Avenue and San Pablo Dam Road.
Guatemalan fast-food restaurant chain Pollo Campero would occupy the building, which would be constructed in the parking lot of the San Pablo shopping center that also contains Planet Fitness and FoodMaxx.
The San Pablo Planning Commission is considering a major design review and conditional use permit for the project at its meeting tonight.
“The proposed project would consist of a new stand-alone commercial building containing 2,619 square feet of floor space,” city documents state. “The building would have one story and a maximum height of 25 feet.”
Save Mart Supermarkets LLC has owned the overall site where the Pollo Campero restaurant is proposed since 2002. It was previously owned by Carpenter Pension Trust Fund.
On Nov. 22, 2022, the Planning Commission approved proposals related to the construction of a 10,000 square foot commercial building that will house WSS shoes in the southwestern portion of the shopping center, at the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and Kirk Lane. Construction has not begun for that project yet.
