RecycleMore will host its first ever DIY FixIt clinic for West Contra Costa County residents at the Hercules Library on Saturday, Dec. 2.

At this free event open to all ages, FixIt coaches will be available to help residents repair broken or non-functioning items like electronics, computers, toys, sewing machines, bicycles or fabric items.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library located at 109 Civic Drive in Hercules.

Workspace and specialty tools will be available. Local DIY experts are encouraged to join the event to offer tips. Activities will be available for young kids, as well as refreshments for participants.

No registration is required, however, be sure to let the FixIt Team know what item you are bringing by using the link to complete the Google Form.

Peter Holtzclaw, executive director of RecycleMore, expressed excitement to partner on the event.

“Today’s society has become accustomed to a ‘throw-it-away’ lifestyle,” Holtzclaw said. “However, many items can easily be fixed instead of buying new. Why not learn to repair? Residents might even find opportunity to fix and regift this holiday season.”

RecyleMore, known as the West Contra Costa Integrated Waste Management Authority (WCCIWMA), provides a wide range of waste processing management services for West County. It is a local government joint powers authority created by the cities of El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo and unincorporated Contra Costa County.
