San Pablo Smiles Dentistry is set to be honored at City Council on Monday for earning the distinction as the San Pablo Small Business of the Year.

Drs. Joshua Rosales and Lisa Pham took over San Pablo Smiles Dentistry from the late Dr. Dan Tanita before the start of the pandemic and worked to retain staff and continue to serve the San Pablo community through the most challenging times, according to a Certificate of Special Recognition signed by Mayor Abel Pineda.

Rosales and Pham also reopened the free dental clinic that Dr. Tanita started in 1997 at Peres Elementary School, providing essential onsite care.

San Pablo Smiles Dentistry, which is located at 2089 Vale Road, “exemplifies the best of what San Pablo has to offer in terms of quality family dental care, community involvement, and leadership,” the mayor’s certificate states.

“In addition, the outgoing and attentive front-line staff, hygienists and dental assistants follow up with patients to make sure needs are being met and questions answered,” Mayor Pineda said, adding, “San Pablo Smiles offers excellent careers in dentistry. We thank Drs. Rosales and Pham for being valuable employers in San Pablo and for putting patients first.”

The San Pablo Economic Development Corporation organizes an annual campaign to get hundreds of shoppers to nominate their favorite local San Pablo business for the award. The San Pablo EDC provides the winner of the award more than $10,000 in marketing benefits, according to city documents.

The San Pablo City Council will honor San Pablo Smiles Dentistry at its meeting Monday, June 5. View the meeting agenda here.
