As Independence Day draws near, there’s no shortage of festive celebrations where locals can safely enjoy the holiday. From Rich City to San Pablo and beyond, here’s a roundup of what’s happening to celebrate our nation’s birthday.

Richmond

“The City of Richmond’s Annual 3rd of July Fireworks Show” is set to return after a pandemic pause Sun., July 3 from 5-10 p.m. at Marina Bay Park, 1340 Marina Way South in Richmond. The fireworks show is scheduled to go off at 9:15 p.m. and community members are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the family friendly event. Food vendors, music provided by Digit Sounds and city/community groups will all be on hand at the free-admission event, as will restrooms. Click here for more info.

Also on the Richmond shoreline, “July 3rd Fireworks on Red Oak Victory” offers community members the unique opportunity to celebrate Independence Day on a WWII Victory ship that fought to preserve our independence, per organizers. The event on the ship’s deck will take place Sun., July 3 from 6-10 p.m. and will feature live jazz music by the George Cole Trio, all-American menu items including hotdogs, chips and soda (or beer/wine for adults) and will be topped off by taking in the City of Richmond’s fireworks display (9:15 p.m.). Adjacent to the SS Red Oak Victory on Richmond’s shoreline, Rigger’s Loft Wine Company’s “Fireworks in the Point” Sun., July 3rd from 5-9:30 p.m. will treat advance ticket holders to live music courtesy of two live dance bands, food, wine and cider, not to mention games for the kids and “fireworks launched from the estuary right in the back of the winery,” per organizers. Advanced tickets $30/adults, $15/age 20 and under and children under age five are free of charge. Tickets at the door will be $35 and $20. Click here to purchase tickets. San Pablo

The City of San Pablo will be celebrating the return of its “July 4th Event” Mon., July 4 from 4-8 p.m. at the San Pablo Community Center, 2450 Road 20 in San Pablo. The fireworks-free event will feature carnival games, face painting and food trucks. Hercules and Pinole

The cities of Hercules and Pinole are coming together to host “The 4th of July Fireworks Celebration” Mon., July 4th, which will include an aerial fireworks display that will start shortly after dark (estimated to be between 9 p.m. to 9:10 p.m.). “Fireworks will be viewable from numerous bayfront and inland locations in Pinole and Hercules, including Fernandez Park,” said officials.
