The increased demand is also prompting a remote hiring fair in the local community.
On Wednesday, June 15, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the San Pablo EDC is hosting a virtual Bus Driver Career & Recruitment Day.
Two local employers, AC Transit and Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation, will be present to talk about the many employment opportunities they are offering and to answer questions about the application process.

Starting jobs in the transportation field often pay $25-30/hour and up, with excellent benefits. The training course to prepare for the commercial driver’s license test is typically very short, usually 4-6 weeks. The San Pablo EDC has funding available to help you pay for the cost of bus driver CDL training, if you are interested in getting into this career.
If you have a Class B permit, with airbrake and passenger endorsements, then you are an eligible candidate for AC Transit’s paid training course; and Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation also offers in-house training to qualified driver applicants. Mechanics are also in huge demand, and no bus mechanic experience is needed, just auto mechanic.
