Congressman Mark DeSaulnier is set to host a virtual town hall to update his constituents on efforts aimed at holding President Donald Trump accountable for the deadly rioting at the U.S. Capitol last week.
The town hall, set to discuss Congressional efforts to impeach the President and possibly invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, is set to take place Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. on Zoom and will also be viewable through Congressman DeSaulnier’s Facebook page.
Contra Costa residents will have an opportunity to submit questions before the event and live during the town hall. To RSVP, submit a question, or request special accommodations, visit here.
Trump is accused of inciting his supporters at a rally Wednesday, Jan. 6, during which he repeated unsubstantiated claims of election fraud. The rally led to a riot during which Trump supporters stormed into the U.S. Capitol and halted proceedings to certify Joe Biden as the 46th U.S. president. Five people died amid the chaos and dozens were injured. At the time of the siege, DeSauliner was inside a U.S. Capitol room awaiting the start of the election ratification debate.
