During WWII, women later called “Rosie the Riveters” flocked to the Home Front on Richmond’s shores, helping to build ships to bolster the war effort in the wake of the Pearl Harbor attack.
In modern times, Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Park will honor the many contributions of these trailblazing women with a special gathering at the Visitor’s Center celebrating its 25th anniversary on Friday, March 21 at 1 p.m., Rosie the Riveter Day.
Highlights of the day will include elected officials presenting proclamations and then joining community members in signing a declaration honoring the park’s 25th anniversary.
“Original WWII ‘Rosies,’ now in their late 90s & 100s, will be introduced,” according to the park, which added that all are welcome to join in to help mark this monumental celebration.
The park’s Visitor’s Center is located at 1414 Harbour Way S., Suite 3000, in Richmond. Questions? Contact [email protected].
