Groundwork Richmond’s mission to better support the lives and the environment of the residents that live in our community is at the top of our efforts. With a deep commitment to environmental justice, green space expansion, and community engagement and empowerment, we strive to create positive change through various ways aimed at improving air quality, promoting sustainability, expanding the tree canopy, and providing access to resources.
Currently we are offering free air monitors to people that live in the Iron Triangle and North Richmond neighborhoods. Through our partnership with Rambol and Purple Air monitor, we are taking steps to address the issues of air pollution in our neighborhoods. By installing these Purple Air monitors which are free of charge to Richmond residents, we aim to provide residents with the information they need to protect their health and advocate for cleaner air. These monitors serve as tools in our collective efforts to monitor the air quality, identify pollution sources, and implement targeted interventions to improve environmental conditions. Purple Air monitors utilize advanced technology to measure particulate matter, offering precise insights into air quality conditions.
Our mission is not only to mitigate the immediate effects of environmental challenges but also to address the root causes of inequity and injustice. By engaging residents in decision-making processes and advocating for policies that prioritize environmental justice, we are working towards a future where every individual can thrive in a clean, safe, and sustainable community.
