This Earth Day, April 21, Richmond Moves has an offer you can’t refuse: Everyone rides for free on the City’s first on-demand public shuttle service, per the Richmond City Manager’s report.
The special offer to ride free on Richmond Moves not only celebrates Earth Day but also marks its first year of service in the community. Riders can procure a ride around Richmond and anywhere within Richmond Moves’ service zone, which the City said includes the Richmond and El Cerrito BART, the ferry, parks and more.
To book a ride, use the free Richmond Moves app or call (510) 939-3657 to receive help via phone, according to the City Manager’s report. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and rides typically cost $2 or are free for students and seniors.
Last April, Richmond Moves was launched by the City of Richmond and Via thanks to grant funding from California Climate Investments. The City Manager’s report said the service has “expanded access to efficient, equitable and sustainable transportation in the Richmond community,” most notably by “neighborhoods that are underserved by other mobility options.”
