A Richmond man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on westbound Interstate Highway 80 west of the Bay Bridge toll plaza on Sunday.

On Sunday, the California Highway Patrol responded to the shooting scene and locate the victims uninjured inside their vehicle.

A suspect vehicle was identified, and the investigation led the CHP detectives to Richmond on Wednesday, where a search warrant was served at the home of Jose Mireles, 23.

“Additional information and evidence was located connecting Mireles to the shooting,” according to the CHP, which added that Mireles ultimately confessed to the shooting.

Mireles was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County on suspicion of attempted homicide, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon, among other charges, according to the CHP.
