The Contra Costa County coroner’s office has identified the bicyclist fatally struck in Richmond on Friday afternoon as Oscar Castro, 56, a Richmond resident.
Police responded to W. Ohio Avenue and Richmond Parkway at 12:52 p.m. on a report of a traffic accident, according to Richmond police Capt. Al Walle.
Castro was reportedly riding his bike in a westward direction toward West Ohio Ave., when he rode into the path of a motorist driving on the Richmond Parkway and was killed at the scene, Walle said.
The motorist reportedly had a green light and the right of way when the accident occurred, was cooperative with police and was determined not to be driving under the influence, Walle said
The RPD’s Traffic Division is still conducting an investigation into the incident.
