Triple shooting under investigation in Richmond

One man was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting just before noon today in the area of 4th Street and Macdonald Avenue in Richmond, according to police.

Police responded to the area on a Shotspotter activation of 17 gunshot rounds at 11:53 am., Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said. A man was pronounced dead at the scene, and another man and woman were transported to the hospital, where they were treated and released.

The deceased victim’s name was not being released pending notification of his family.

No information is being released on the suspects or the suspect vehicle, but police investigators are working on leads, Richmond police Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said.

Macdonald Avenue between 2nd and 5th streets were closed for the investigation, but have since reopened.
