With Salesian College Preparatory winning its first ever state title, Kennedy High making it all the way to the North Coast Section Division VI championship game, and the De Anza Dons nearly coming from behind to win the North Coast Section V semifinals, high school football has been a lot of fun to watch this fall in West Contra Costa County.
Good news? While their impressive seasons have ended, the football action isn’t totally over.
This Saturday, Dec. 21, Break the Hudl is hosting its Bay Showcase All-Star game that will feature 15 West Contra Costa Unified District players.
Kicking off at 3:30 p.m. at El Cerrito High, 540 Ashbury Ave., the annual game is a talent showcase for college-qualified student athletes representing over 30 Bay Area schools.
“Our events are specifically designed to aid an athlete to play at the next level,” organizers said. “We provide a platform for athletes to showcase their talent in front of hundreds of college programs in search of their unique skillset.”
This year’s event will include the 1st Annual Ramone Sanders Defensive Player of the Game Award, named after the McClymonds High and Laney College football standout who recently died after a yearlong battle with bone cancer.
