In celebration of National Bike Month, Richmond and surrounding communities will host annual Bike to Work Day celebrations that feature energizer stations along key bicycle routes during the morning commute, as well as events during the afternoon commute.
From 7 a.m. to 9 .m., five Energizer Stations will set up in Richmond: the Richmond BART (6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.); the Richmond Ferry Terminal (a new station this year, given the terminal recently opened); Marina Bay Park along the Bay Trail; Macdonald Avenue and Key Boulevard; and Unity Park at 16th Street and the Richmond Greenway (between Ohio Avenue and Chanslor Avenue).
Bicyclists can stop by the stations on their way to work to pick up refreshments and a Bike to Work Day bag filled with promotional materials from local businesses.
The stations are a collaboration among Bike East Bay, 511 Contra Costa, Richmond Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), Rich City Rides, Columbia Sportswear Company, and SunPower.
For those biking in the San Pablo area, San Pablo City Hall will host a station from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. During those same hours, another will be held at Contra Costa College at the Comet Way entrance, and also at the BART El Cerrito del Norte Station.
In the afternoon, the Bike to Work Day fun continues.
