“Glow the Funk Up.”

That’s the theme for this year’s “Be A Kid” event, a fun 21-and-over “happy-style” fundraiser for the RYSE youth center.

The party kicks off this Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at RYSE Center, 205 41st St. in Richmond.

This ultra fun night features a roller rink, cocktail and wine bars, a beer garden and delicious food. Attendees will experience the fun and interactive programs that RYSE youth members enjoy daily. There will also be a Drink and Draw with a local artist, cooking demonstration and tasting, a youth art gallery and local art mart, a Youthtopia Production Sneak Peek, trivia and games, dancing and schwag giveaways.

You’ll also get an exclusive look at RYSE Commons, an ambitious expansion of the center recently approved by the Richmond Planning Commission.

“The RYSE Center creates a safe space for young people to learn, heal, and transform their lives and communities,” said Contra Costa Supervisor John Gioia, a founder of RYSE, in his newsletter. “It’s served thousands of West County young people since it opened over 10 years ago.

The Be A Kid fundraiser is “a fun way to meet and mingle with neighbors while raising funds for a great cause — the youth of West County,” Gioia added.
