A driver was killed after his car crashed into the center divide on Interstate Highway 580 in Richmond early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes at the Marina Bay Parkway exit at 2:03 a.m., CHP Officer Herman Basa said.
The driver, the sole occupant in the black Honda sedan, was ejected into the westbound lanes. He was transported to Kaiser Richmond, where he was pronounced deceased at 3:03 a.m., Basa said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, Basa said.
His identity is not being released until next of kin is notified, the Contra Costa County coroner’s office said.
