In a communication all-too-commonplace in the COVID-19 era, the owners of The Factory Bar in Richmond announced yesterday that they are postponing their opening.

The bar, located at 12517 San Pablo Ave. in Richmond, celebrated its groundbreaking in June 2019 and was set to open this month.

“To no one’s surprise, we will be pushing out the official opening of the Factory,” the bar owners said in a statement. “Most likely a good month, but will be playing week-by-week as the current situation unfolds.”

Owners Jason Beebout, Michelle Guest, Tom Lyons and Marcus Hibser have been posting photos and updates on the bar’s progress online as its building renovation nears completion. “Over the next few weeks, we will continue to be readying the place to open its doors to the neighborhood. Still lots of little things to do,” the bar owners stated.

As part of The Factory Bar’s update, the owners noted that they were excited about East Brother Beer Co. stopping by recently to help them test out their beer lines. The owners also noted that the Victory Garden on their outdoor patio has produced flowers and a bunch of vegetables already. “By the time we open, we plan on being able to use quite a bit from the garden in our drinks,” they stated.

“We hope to use the extra time we have to make the place even more special for everyone,” the owners stated. “Stay tuned. As soon as we make a determination of being able to open, you will be the first to know.”
