Local job seekers interested in starting a career in IT support are encouraged to join the Stride Center’s affordable A-plus training that starts March 11.

There are a few spots open in the program’s San Pablo campus at 2300 El Portal Drive, Suite C. Locals are encouraged to apply quickly. Classes run for 22 weeks, five days a week for three hours a day.

The Stride Center provides participants technical skills, technical certifications and job placement assistance. While pay for careers in this industry varies by experience, location and employer, it ranges from $18/hour to about $30/hour, and average starting pay for A+ Graduates in 2016 was $19.30/hour.

The A-plus training is foundational to start an IT career in technical support. It is also the first crucial step to advanced certifications that lead to well-paid Tech Jobs.

“It is recommended that before beginning the A+ training that applicants have some foundational knowledge of computer technologies and the aptitude to learn a large volume of information in a relatively short period of time,” according to the Stride Center.

Course topics include maintenance to operating systems including Windows, Linux, Apple, iOS and Android, hardware, mobile devices and troubleshooting; also introduction to both security and network.  In addition, students receive guidance in life and professional skills as part of Stride Center Career Navigation.

The completion and certification validates and prepares students to launch their tech Careers and compete for high-paying jobs.
