The Richmond Police Department’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) team recently helped bust two organized retail theft suspects that struck a Lucky store at El Cerrito Plaza.
The suspects entered the store at 4:21 p.m. on June 7, grabbed merchandise, and fled in their vehicle before officers arrived. At 5:20 p.m., Richmond PD’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) team located the getaway vehicle and established aerial surveillance. Working closely with ground units, the drone team followed the suspects until officers were able to positively identify and arrest both individuals.
The two suspects were booked by the El Cerrito Police Department and have since been transferred to the Martinez Detention Facility. They face multiple charges, including robbery, conspiracy, organized retail theft, probation violation, and repeat-offender theft.
