A dispute between two groups of people led to a mid-afternoon shooting in the parking lot of the Pinole Valley Shopping Center on Friday, police said.
Police responded to the parking lot in the 2700 block of Pinole Valley Road on reports of a shooting and arrived to find evidence of shots fired but no victims or suspects.
“Officers interviewed witnesses, reviewed surveillance video in the area, and determined a dispute between two groups of subjects occurred in the parking lot,” police said. “One subject fired multiple rounds at a silver vehicle during the incident. All involved parties left the area before officers arrived.”
No buildings or parked cars in the area sustained gunshot damage, and no one arrived at local hospitals seeking medical attention for a bullet wound, police said.
An investigation revealed the involved parties know each other and that “this was not a random act of violence,” police said.
