Shasa Curl is retiring as Richmond’s city manager after serving the city for more than 20 years.

She will officially step down once the city completes renovations of three local parks: Boorman, Wendell, and Shields-Reid.

During her four-year tenure, Curl led major infrastructure projects such as the ongoing main library renovation and ferry service while successfully removing the city from the state’s financial “high-risk” list. Her leadership also stabilized Richmond’s budget with $54.6 million in reserves and improved public safety through new crisis response programs and a reduction in homicides.

Curl thanked the people of Richmond and the city staff for their hard work. She noted that the city currently has over $280 million in grant money to keep improving local programs and buildings even after she leaves her position.

“It has been the great privilege of my professional career to serve Richmond for over two decades, andCurl said said City Manager Shasa Curl.
