San Pablo Avenue between Hill Street and Cutting Boulevard was temporarily closed for an investigation into a suspicious device.
Earlier today, El Cerrito police officers located the object on the sidewalk. The Walnut Creek Police Bomb Squad was called to inspect it. The device was subsequently determined to be an electronic car stereo component wrapped in duct tape.
“It was not an explosive and poses no threat to the community,” pollice said.
After the device was inspected and removed, the police department restored traffic flow to the area.
