STIIIZY may soon open a new cannabis shop in San Pablo.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday to consider a permit for the business at 13041 San Pablo Avenue, located at the corner of Rheem Avenue.

The project (review full plans here) would renovate a vacant 7,639-square-foot building at the corner of San Pablo and Rheem Avenues that previously housed a church and a door showroom.

STIIIZY was selected through a competitive city process following the 2024 passage of Measure M, which allows up to three cannabis retailers in San Pablo. The company secured an Operator Permit on March 19 after reviews by the police department and city attorney.

The shop would use the ground floor for retail and keep the second floor closed to the public. Plans include a secured lobby for ID checks, new exterior paint, and updated landscaping. STIIIZY expects to hire 15 to 25 employees and operate daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

City staff found the location meets all required distances from schools and other cannabis businesses. While the site has 18 parking spaces, the city may allow the use of nearby street parking to meet the 19-space requirement.

Associate Planner Griffen Dempsey noted the project would fill a vacant building and provide new tax revenue. The city also approved a security plan that includes surveillance and building reinforcements.

The Planning Commission will hear public comments before deciding on the permit. If approved, STIIIZY must still obtain a state license to begin operations.

The proposed business, STIIIZY San Pablo, would join a network of 59 California dispensaries and three Michigan locations operated by STIIIZY, Inc. The retailer plans to offer a wide range of products including cannabis flower, pre-rolls, extracts, vaporizers, edibles, and infused beverages. Other available items would include topicals, tinctures, and capsules. All products will arrive pre-packaged and labeled to ensure full compliance with state law.
