Retired Pastor Dr. Otha Johnson of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church was honored as he celebrated his 103rd birthday this past Saturday at his church in San Pablo.
This past Saturday, he celebrated his 103rd birthday at his church in San Pablo. In the above photo from the celebration, he is presented two city proclamations recognizing his outstanding and valuable contributions to the community. One is by former Richmond Mayor/Councilman Nat Bates and former Councilman Corky Booze on behalf of Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez. A second proclamation is by former Richmond City Councilman Jael Myrick on behalf of San Pablo Mayor Elizabeth Pabon-Alvarado.
Pastor Johnson could be the oldest pastor alive in the Bay Area and continues to be active. He credits his longevity to praising and worshiping God each morning from 8-10 a.m., and thereafter having his daughter, Arlene Edwards, prepare him his favorite breakfast of bacon and eggs or should we say “pig and chicken.”
