Richmond High School is celebrating a successful weekend of competition at the Regional Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Meeting.
Ms. Green, the school’s fashion teacher, reported that 80 percent of the team earned a spot in the 2026 FCCLA State Leadership Conference taking place this April in Riverside.
FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young people build leadership and real-world career skills through competitive projects in areas like culinary arts, fashion, and interior design. Students are registered to compete in categories including job interview, fashion design and construction, and culinary display.
Several students earned top awards and are moving on to the state finals. Alison Yoc took first place in Fashion Construction. The team of Fabiola Momotic and Julie Coronado won second place for their project in Repurpose and Redesign. Elizabeth Balderas also moved forward to the state level for her work in the Pastry Display category. Additionally, student Lesley Valdez was recognized for her creative project and strong effort during the event.
The students received a lot of help from staff members to reach this goal. Mr. Zaragoza helped run the competition rooms and drove the team to the event. Ms. Hill was also there to take photos and encourage the students while they waited to present their work.
Ms. Green said of the students, “Their professionalism, preparation, and confidence were impressive. They represented Richmond High with excellence.”
