Richmond shop owners can now apply for up to $15,000 to fix up their storefronts. The new city-funded grant program started on Dec. 29 and aims to make local streets look more inviting by helping businesses pay for exterior upgrades.

The money is available for small, local shops in the Iron Triangle, Coronado, and Santa Fe neighborhoods. You can use the grant for things people see from the sidewalk, like new windows, doors, signs, awnings, lights, or a fresh coat of paint.

To be eligible, your business must have a Richmond license and have made $2 million or less in 2024. The city wants to help stores look open and welcoming, so the funds are for improvements that keep windows clear rather than adding heavy security bars. There is only $300,000 total in the fund, so it is best to apply soon before the money runs out. Those interested can call (510) 619-8668 or visit the City of Richmond website to start your application.
