Richmond Art Center is kicking off the new year with a vibrant lineup of winter art classes and workshops for students of all ages and experience levels. From hands-on craft workshops to multi-week creative explorations, the season offers something for everyone. Visit the Richmond Art Center website for full class details and registration.

Highlights include:

  • Mosaic Glass Coasters — Learn glass fusing techniques and make a set of three functional coasters. (Adult Workshop, Jan. 6)
  • Beginning Hand + Wheel — Explore wheel-throwing and handbuilding techniques in this beginner-friendly clay class. (Wednesdays, Jan. 7–Mar. 4)
  • Introduction to Tapestry Weaving — Beginners learn tapestry techniques and how to dress a floor loom. (Thursdays, Jan. 8–Mar. 12)
  • The Art of Still Life — Paint from observation while studying traditional and contemporary approaches. (Fridays, Jan. 9–Feb. 27)
  • Not So Plain Weave (Floor Loom Weaving) — Create cloth with unique textures and patterns. (Fridays, Jan. 9–Mar. 13)
  • Screen Print: Introduction and Exploration — Make prints on paper and fabric while learning stencil and multi-color registration techniques. (Fridays, Jan. 9–Feb. 13)
  • Polaroid Emulsion Lifts — One-day workshop exploring Polaroid transfers with all materials provided. (Jan. 10)
  • Drawing with Glass — Turn sketches into glass art through borosilicate flamework. (Saturdays, Jan. 10–31)
  • Beginning Watercolor — Discover watercolor techniques and develop personal style. (Fridays, Jan. 16–Mar. 6)
  • Fused Fine Silver Chain — Learn to create handmade fused silver chains. (Saturdays, Jan. 17–Feb. 7)
  • Sketchbooking — A stress-free drawing workshop focusing on playful techniques. (Tuesdays, Jan. 27–Feb. 24)
  • Pencil It In Color — A beginner’s guide to colored pencil art. (Wednesdays, Feb. 4–Mar. 11)
  • Tide Pool Treasures in Pastel and Pastel Pencils — Inspired by nature’s textures and forms. (Tuesdays, Feb. 5–Mar. 12)
  • Coil Basketry — Learn basics of coil basketry in this hands-on class. (Saturdays, Feb. 7–Mar. 14)
  • Crushed Stone Inlay Rings — Expand jewelry skills with gemstone inlay techniques. (Thursdays, Feb. 19–Mar. 5)
