WSS, formerly known as Warehouse Shoe Sale, plans to locate in a building that will be constructed in the parking lot of a strip mall in San Pablo, according to city documents.
The WCC will move into a one-story, 10,000 square foot commercial building that will be built at the northeast corner of San Pablo Avenue and Kirk Lane. The building will have a maximum height of 26 feet and will be on the southwest corner of an existing shopping center occupied by Planet Fitness and FoodMaxx.
Save Mart Supermarkets, operator of FoodMaxx, has owned the the shopping center site since 2002.
On Nov. 28, the San Pablo Planning Commission approved the site owner’s request to increase the maximum allowable wall sign area from 150 square feet to 457 square feet for the new WSS store.
A brick “Welcome to San Pablo” sign that the city considers in disrepair will be removed as part of the construction, according to city documents.
