The community is invited to the grand opening this Saturday of a re-imagined El Sobrante Library and the Nancy Fahden House, which will be home to the Friends of the Library and El Sobrante Historical Society.
The library at 4191 Appian Way has been closed since a fire caused extensive smoke and water damage to the building on Feb. 27, 2018.
“The new library includes two walls of windows, six skylights and all new furniture, shelves and books,” according to Contra Costa County Library.
Saturday’s celebration begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the library at 4191 Appian Way. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be performances, kids activities and storytimes, organizers said.
