Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia is encouraging fellow community members to consider joining commissions and boards with the County.

Currently, there are openings on the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (three adults, two youth), the Assessment Appeals Board (District 1 seat), Arts and Culture Commission (at large seat), First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission, (District 1 alternate), Contra Costa County Library Commission, (District 1 seat), according to Gioia’s recent newsletter.

“Government works best when there is strong and diverse community participation,” Gioia said. “Public advisory boards, commissions and councils serve as excellent institutions for empowering resident involvement, training grounds for ascending leaders, and great opportunities for people wanting to serve.”
