John Gioia was selected today to become the 2019 chair of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Candace Andersen was selected as the Vice Chair at today’s Board meeting.

Gioia, has been representing District 1, or West County, as a supervisor since he was first elected in 1998. This is his fifth term as Board Chair.

Supervisor Gioia expressed appreciation for District 4 Supervisor Karen Mitchoff, the previous Board Chair, for her “leadership in maintaining our County’s strong fiscal position.”

At a County Lunch at the Craneway Pavilion that followed today’s Board meeting, Gioia stated his central focus for his Board leadership this year.

“As Chair this year I want to sharpen our county’s focus even more on the already important work that we do to support children and families,” Gioia said.

That includes “establishing a special Board committee to reduce childhood asthma,” he said.

Vice Chair Andersen has served the County since 2012 and was Board Chair in 2016.

The five-member Board of Supervisors sets the policy direction of county government and oversees its $3.74 billion budget.

  1. Sadly CCC B of S hasn’t provided services to extremely vulnerable disabled abused seniors for years.

Calls and complaints to the DA for Elder Abuse who signed for certified letters that I mailed every six months including the APS department fail to enforce the law or even visit the abused senior or call them.

Lived in Martinez since ‘94 medical care records at CCRMC not converted to digital losing or violating medical records law in CA actually shall harm the disabled in this county which Supervisors only see as a financial burden sooner they die less cost to taxpayers of which was including paying my property taxes in Martinez.
Federal Glover’s office continues to refuse to return calls from his constituents!
