The John and Jean Knox Performing Arts Center in San Pablo will host Kathryn Seabron’s solo play, Angry Black Woman 101, on Friday, April 24, from 7-10 p.m.
The 60-minute show uses theater, poetry, and media to examine the specific forms of discrimination and stereotypes that black women encounter in workplaces and daily life. Directed by Lynn Vidal, the performance is based on Seabron’s personal experiences with workplace mistreatment and aims to highlight the social pressures and lack of safety often felt by black women in professional settings.

The evening will conclude with a 30-minute panel discussion featuring Seabron and other black women professionals from the fields of business and education. The conversation aims to encourage community learning and challenge harmful social tropes.
RCF Connects is hosting the event through its Equity for Black Women and Girls Initiative to raise awareness about local funding gaps. The organization reports that less than 1 percent of community dollars in Contra Costa County currently support black women and girls. Tickets are available for purchase through RCF Connects.
