The San Pablo Cowboys’ 8-Under team is enjoying a perfect season at 6-0 with only two games left. Now with sights set on the regional championships in San Diego, and possibly a trip to the national championship in Florida, the team is fundraising for its travels.
Head Coach Garice Tate has launched a GoFundMe site with a goal of raising $25,000 to fund the team’s trips. Coach Tate is confident in his team’s chances of winning the NorCal title. But if the team doesn’t earn the right to travel, any funds raised through this campaign will be used to purchase “desperately” needed new shoulder pads, helmets and other equipment, Tate said.
The Cowboys is a nonprofit, and most of the funds it raises from gate fees and the snack bar pay for the right to have home games at WCCUSD fields, the coach said.
The coach aims to ensure his players”can make memories and experience traveling outside the Bay Area and possibly out of state.”
