Vallejo rapper LaRussell recently filmed music videos at Richmond, El Cerrito and De Anza high schools as part of his “I’m From The Bay” tour.

The visit was part of a multi-school tour driven by fan votes on social media, according to reporting by Richmond High student journalists. The video serves as a “visualizer” for his collaboration with Lil Jon, highlighting the unique spirit of local schools.

According to his official YouTube channel, Good Compenny, LaRussell also filmed videos at Pittsburg High School, San Leandro High School, Montera Middle School in Oakland and Mt. Eden High School in Hayward.

The Richmond High marching band practiced for weeks to learn the song and perfect their choreography, student journalists reported. Band members even spent extra time after school to help develop the video’s shots.

Student artists contributed by creating a large mural for the RHS band room in just under a week. The project was supervised by school staff to give youth more spaces to express themselves before the current school buildings are eventually replaced.

LaRussell’s visit focused on celebrating Bay Area pride and local potential. During the shoot, he praised the students for their energy and “excellent” performance, even after a 4:30 a.m. start for some participants.

LaRussell has rapidly emerged as a powerhouse in independent hip-hop. He just reached a career milestone as the official house band for Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium. Known for his “Good Compenny” movement, he prioritizes community and creative freedom over traditional record deals.
