Richmond resident Ronald Bryant, 56, was arrested and charged in connection with a series of sexual battery incidents that occurred in the vicinity of the Point Richmond Tunnel on Dornan Drive earlier this summer, the Richmond Police Department reported today.

Three separate assaults took place on June 8, June 11, and July 15. At the time, the RPD said victims who were jogging or exercising alone were primarily targeted.

The department’s Investigations Bureau conducted an investigation that included following up on numerous leads, conducting undercover decoy operations, utilizing Flock license plate reader data, and collecting forensic evidence from the scenes. These efforts led to the identification of Bryant as a suspect, police said.

Bryant was taken into custody by detectives in Richmond on Aug. 12. Three days later, the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filed multiple charges against him, including assault with intent to commit a felony, three counts of false imprisonment by violence, and five counts of sexual battery.

Bryant is currently in custody with bail set at $200,000.
