After two years operating on Park Place in Point Richmond, Monique Azarria Ahmed is on the hunt for a new location for her pet care business, Dawg House Pet Grooming LLC, following an unexpected lease termination.

“I’m currently in the process of finding a new space—nothing official yet, but I’m looking locally and hope to reopen very soon,” said Ahmed, who operates the business alongside her mother.

Now, she’s launched a Go Fund Me to help cover moving expenses, secure a new location and keep serving the various pets and families who have supported Dawg House from the beginning. The fundraising effort has raised $1,512 of its $4,000 goal as of this writing.

“Any support means the world and helps keep this dream alive—thank you from the bottom of my heart,” said Ahmed to the business’ supporters via her fundraising page.

When asked by the Standard about her love of working with furballs, Ahmed said, “I’ve always had a deep love for animals—they’re comforting, honest and working with them feels like second nature to me.”

She added that she works with dogs of all sizes and temperaments at her business, but that everyone’s welcome, including cats and rabbits.

Customer Gabe Shalaby offered a favorable review of Ahmed’s services on Facebook. “Great groomer, real talent and very gentle and sweet to my dog! 100 percent would recommend.” The business has also earned five stars on Yelp.
