Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) will host a free pet adoption event on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its Martinez shelter as part of the 2nd annual California Adopt-A-Pet Day.
In addition to free adoptions (with a possible $25 licensing fee), the event will feature local rescue groups, dog training demos, kids’ activities, free dog nail trims, and more.
The initiative is part of a statewide push to adopt out 5,000 animals, following last year’s successful event where over 3,600 pets were adopted in a single day.
“Adopting a pet is not just about bringing an animal into your family – it’s about giving them a chance at a life filled with love and care,” said CCAS Director Ben Winkleblack. “We’re excited to invite the community to our Adopt-A-Pet Day event on June 7 and join us for a day of fun, learning, and of course, finding a forever friend.”
