When communities come together, change happens. Children walk safely to quality schools, there’s affordable housing for everyone, healthy food and care are close by, jobs and small businesses thrive and every resident feels seen, valued and connected.

This is the vision of RCF Connects, the Richmond-based nonprofit formerly known as the Richmond Community Foundation, which is marking its 25th anniversary this year. The organization was founded in the city in 2000 and has since expanded to impact people spanning Contra Costa County’s Eastern and Central regions as well.

During its anniversary year, RCF Connects is planning a series of events and campaigns to mark this milestone, engage the community, and highlight both past accomplishments and future goals.

“This milestone is more than just a celebration,” said President and CEO of RCF Connects Jim Becker. “It’s a reflection of the community’s resilience, the strength of our partnerships, and our shared belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive—no matter where they live.”

Ahead of its 25th anniversary, RCF Connects received multiple recognitions, underscoring the impact of its work. This included the Antioch Chamber of Commerce naming the organization its 2024 Nonprofit of the Year; the East Bay Economic Development Alliance recognizing it in the Community Impact Category during the 12th Annual East Bay Innovation Awards; and MCE nominating it for the 2024 Charles F. McGlashan Award for its environmental leadership in the community.

Lucinda Bazile, RCF Connects’ Board Chair, said, “These recognitions are deeply meaningful as we celebrate 25 years. “They remind us that our work is not only seen—but valued—by our peers, partners, and neighbors across Contra Costa County.”
