On National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 17, RYSE youth members and community partners will paint a large-scale street mural on Bissell Avenue.

The event, called “Vote For Us,” will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 3939 Bissell Ave. in Richmond.

“Vote For Us” is a call-to-action where young people who are not of voting age or eligible to vote share the issues that are important to them. Young people are urging their community to show up and vote this election season, especially for state and local issues.

Issues important to RYSE youth include affordable housing, climate justice, funding for the arts, immigrant rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health services, reproductive freedom, restorative justice, safe and inclusive schools and solidarity.

The event will feature opportunities and resources to take action and register to vote. For more information about RYSE’s Voting and Civic Engagement work, visit rysecenter.org/vote

RYSE is a Richmond-based organization founded in 2008 centered on supporting and uplifting local youth.
