A mural underway in Parchester Village will be one of the largest community murals in Richmond history.

Once done, the long-envsioned mural will cover 88 panels of the sound barrier wall on Giant Road in Parchester Village, as we reported in 2022.

Volunteers are sought to help with painting at a kick-off event on June 1 from 9 a.m. till noon. Folks will meet at the Parchester Village Community Center.

Paint days will also occur June 15, July 13, July 20 and July 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an hour lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Artist Richard Muro Salazar is leading the project with support from assistant lead artist John Wehrle. The Parchester Village Neighborhood Council, Richmond Arts and Culture Commission, Meritage Homes, and Richmond Love Your Block are also involved.
