The Richmond Fire Youth Academy will host an “Open House and Sign-Up Info Day” Saturday, Dec. 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to give local youth all they need to know about joining up.
The six-hour event will be held at the Richmond Fire Youth Academy’s site at 3510 Cutting Blvd. in Richmond.
Organizers encouraged youth to bring their families to tour the grounds and said they’d enjoy meeting everyone and discussing questions concerning the upcoming year for the Richmond Fire Youth Academy Class of 2024.
The Richmond Fire Youth Academy emphasized the event will include an overview of what it takes to become one of their cadets. On the agenda will be cadets’ GPA requirements, schedule and attendance, uniforms/assigned equipment, physical training/expectations, community service, drivers education, station visits/ride alongs, wages/hours and career path planning. Participants will also be given On Board Packets for YouthWORKS.
Event organizers also took time to emphasize the importance of family and community to its staff and cadets and noted that, together, “we will build these young students into professionals ready to take on the upcoming year and all the challenges ahead.”
