Kennedy High School’s girls soccer coach Yaquelin Valencia Lombera is hoping the community can help her JV and Varsity eagles soar on the field through donations.

Coach Jackie, as she is known, took to Facebook recently to appeal for sponsors or donors to help the teams purchase gear. She said the teams need to raise $800 and asked for support via Venmo (@jfk-92) or Zelle. See the flyer for a direct link.

“This year some girls’ families simply can’t afford things their child needs to play. If you have it in your heart to sponsor please do,” said the coach. She said donations of any size would help.

Coach Jackie outlined the cost of the team’s required equipment, including: Soccer cleats, $60-$100; shin guards, $20; socks/shorts, $40-$60; and soccer jackets, $100.

She also shared how sponsors can help, with Gold Sponsors potentially donating $220 toward one student’s cleats, socks and jacket, while Silver Sponsors can donate $120 to support one student’s cleats and shin guards.

The girls’ soccer coach expressed her gratitude for the community support. “I…want to thank those who always pull through for my teams. Some of you have sponsored and it means the world to these girls…”
