We knew it all along, but now the secret’s out: Richmond is home to some seriously tasty food and drinks.

The San Francisco Chronicle in its Sun., July 16 “Morning Fix” edition promoted its April “The Best Day Ever in Richmond” article naming Richmond as a “Most underrated food city” and “dining gem.”

In its write-up, the Chronicle highlighted Richmond’s historic industrial past, but noted that in recent years “it has transformed into an attractive dining and drinking center, with a gem studded restaurant scene…”

Included among the Chronicle’s foodie recommendations were familiar Richmond faves we know and love like Mi Casa Grill; El Garage; Assemble Kitchen (formerly Assemble Marketplace); Kaleidoscope Coffee; Andy’s Donut Shop; Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant; The Backyard; Carnitas El Canelo; Armistice Brewing; Raymond’s Pizzeria; Huong Tra; The Factory Bar; Super Churros; and Baltic Kiss.

The Richmond Standard suggests adding these local “recipes for success” to your special day in Rich City as well: Taqueria La Bamba (we love the pupusas and carnitas burrito); Sailing Goat (The Brazilian Moqueca Seafood Stew is a stand-out); The Artisan Café (try the Fried Chicken Breast Sandwich; open weekdays-only); Anh Restaurant & Bar (the Chicken Cabbage Salad is super tasty); Masa (it’s all good, but the tamales are their specialty); and East Brother Beer Co. (award-winning beer and intermittent visits from La Santa Torta food truck with oozy Red Tacos).

The aforementioned eateries and drinking establishments are just some of our local recommendations; tell us about your faves in the comments.
