Armistice Brewing Company is kicking off its inaugural “Rich City Day” Sat., July 8 from 2-8 p.m. to celebrate “all things Richmond,” including local food, music, artists, nonprofits and—you guessed it—BEER. The festive, block-style party will take place outside the brewery and is free to attend.
“Richmonders know how rad this city is and we wanted to host an event that pays homage to some of [the] things that are so great about this corner of the bay,” said Alex Zobel, who co-founded Armistice with her brother, Gregory Zobel.
Rich City Day will feature a variety of local food vendors, including El Garage—which the brewery said was started by former Armistice employee, Vivian Montano—Curbside Kitchen and Little Hill Pizza. Ruby & Chris Codi’s band, Take Cover, will take the stage at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and community partners at the event will include Rich City Rides, Urban Tilth, Moving Forward and RYSE.
Attendees can take advantage of free screen printing that day from 2-4 p.m., with organizers requesting that people bring a cotton shirt (since it won’t melt) that’s non-pilly to pick-up at a future date.
A handful of event attendees will be able to purchase Rich City Pils glassware—filled up, of course—as well as Rich City merchandise that’s on hand. Gregory Zobel said that, since the brewery opened, “We’ve had an overwhelming number of requests for Rich City merch. It makes sense. Richmonders are super proud of their city, and we should be.”
Rich City Day is free, family friendly and dogs are welcome on leashes. Community members are encouraged to bring long chairs and picnic blankets.
